Petco Love and Bobs from Skechers to Recognize Local Animal Welfare Employees for Putting Their Best Foot Forward for Pets in Need

On Giving Tuesday this month, the philanthropic BOBS from Skechers™ collection from The Comfort Technology Company™ and national nonprofit Petco Love announced an initiative supporting hardworking employees at animal welfare organizations nationwide who put their best foot forward for pets in need. The long-time partners are celebrating the holiday season by gifting 1,000 pairs of BOBS® footwear to shelter employees from Petco Love’s extensive network to acknowledge their part in helping pets find homes.

DOG ABANDONED WITH POSSIBLE BURNS IN WEST ASHLEY

Two days before Thanksgiving, a person found the dog left alone in a cat carrier, in front of an apartment in the Palmilla Apartment Complex in West Ashley. The dog was taken to an emergency vet clinic for treatment of what appear to be chemical burns. Charleston Animal Society veterinarians have continued lifesaving care or the schnauzer-mix, including pain medication and antibiotics.

POT BELLIED PIG STOLEN FROM CHARLESTON ANIMAL SOCIETY: $5,000 REWARD BEING OFFERED

Who stole “Piggie Stardust?” That’s the question after a pot-bellied pig being cared for by Charleston Animal Society was stolen over the Thanksgiving weekend. North Charleston Police are investigating the theft that occurred in the shelter’s barn. On November 16th, PIggie Stardust was found as a stray at a Home Depot in North Charleston and was then brought to Charleston Animal Society for her protection and care.

Rescue Brew Beer Contest Winners Announced!

This year, there were a record number of 709 entrants who raised a total of $81,699 for Charleston Animal Society’s No Kill South Carolina initiative, helping make our state a friendlier place for animals. When the voting phase closed in September, the public selected three cats and three dogs as the finalists in the running for Spokescat and Spokesdog respectively.

Charleston Animal Society Named a 2022 Oxbow Kindswell Grant Winner

Oxbow Animal Health has announced the recipients of its 2022 KINDSWELL Rescue Grants. The 2022 grants will provide more than $40,000 in funding and product donations to nine deserving organizations in support of a variety of projects and programs to benefit the welfare of small animals in need. Grant winners are chosen for excellence in the areas of educational outreach, public awareness, and project impact.

Lowcountry Pit Crew Launch Party

Launch of the Lowcountry Pit Crew! A community-wide effort to find every homeless dog a loving family. This two-day celebration will include fee-waived adoptions with extended hours on Saturday, free Hill’s Science Diet food for a year for the first 50 adopted dogs, plus a “watch party” to see if our animals win a brand new Defender vehicle from Land Rover!

PEDIGREE FOUNDATION® Names 2023 Rescue Dog of the Year

PEDIGREE Foundation announced today its 2023 Rescue Dog of the Year is Ciri, a husky pup adopted from Charleston Animal Society in South Carolina. Her inspiring story of compassion and community demonstrates the power of coming together to help more dogs find their perfect homes.
