At Charleston Animal Society, every role directly supports the health, safety, and well-being of animals in our community. We are seeking a dependable Facilities & Grounds Technician with strong handyman and maintenance skills to help maintain safe, clean, and functional facilities across our organization.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

  • Perform facility maintenance and general repairs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry)
  • Maintain buildings, kennels, offices, and equipment
  • Keep grounds, parking areas, and outdoor spaces clean and safe
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Respond to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and facility safety
  • Support daily operations by ensuring a safe environment for staff, visitors, and animals

Work Locations

  • Charleston Animal Society Main Campus – 2455 Remount Road
  • Bear Greer Memorial Cat Sanctuary – Ravenel
  • Berkeley Campus – Moncks Corner
  • Occasional travel throughout Charleston County and surrounding areas

Schedule

  • Typical hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation as needed

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of facilities maintenance, handyman, or building maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around animals
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Reliable, organized, and self-motivated

Requirements

  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Background check required
