Kennel Technician
Job description:
Charleston Animal Society is looking for a dedicated and energetic Kennel Technician to join our team located at our Berkeley Campus in Moncks Corner! This role involves providing physical exercise and compassionate care for our shelter dogs, particularly larger breeds. If you have a passion for animal welfare, love spending time outdoors, and are comfortable handling strong dogs, this could be the perfect role for you.
Full-time, day shift, rotating weekends.
$15/hr
Responsibilities
- Walk, exercise, and engage with large dogs daily to ensure adequate physical and mental stimulation.
- Provide essential care, including feeding and monitoring the health and well-being of each animal.
- Follow safety protocols to manage and handle large dogs effectively.
- Clean kennels, assist with feeding schedules, and perform other shelter maintenance as needed.
- Keep accurate records of each animal’s behavior, progress, and health.
- Communicate effectively with shelter staff and volunteers.
Requirements
- Previous experience handling large dogs or working in a shelter/rescue setting is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented with a genuine love for animals.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
