CHARLESTON ANIMAL SOCIETY CLOSED FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30 FOR HURRICANE IAN

In preparation for Hurricane Ian, Charleston Animal Society will be closing early Thursday, September 29th at 2:00 PM and closed to the public Friday, September 30th. Regular hours are expected to resume pending the length and severity of the storm. Please see our website and social media to stay up to date on our response to the storm.

CHARLESTON ANIMAL SOCIETY LEADS SOUTH CAROLINA’S RESPONSE TO HURRICANE IAN

Charleston Animal Society rescued 80 cats and kittens from the Humane Society of Naples, Florida and Collier County Domestic Animal Services, Florida and is in touch with other Florida shelters via the Florida Association of Animal Welfare Organizations for pre and post-landfall response and recovery efforts. The cats and kittens were already available for adoption at their shelter(s) before being evacuated.

In honor of Rescue Brew and all the good this fundraiser accomplishes, we decided to pay a visit to Palmetto Brewing Company at 289 Huger Street in Downtown Charleston to show some thanks to the amazing people who have helped to make the Rescue Brew Beer project a reality for the last three years. And what better way to celebrate the closing of Rescue Brew voting, than to bring in some very special rescues to the brewery!

Introducing the 2022 Rescue Brew Finalists

Thursday| September 15, 2022 | North Charleston, SC

Thank you for helping save lives across our state by taking part in the 2022 Rescue Brew Beer Contest! This year, we had a record number of 709 entrants who raised a total of $81,699 for Charleston Animal Society’s No Kill South Carolina initiative.

Last night at 9:00 PM, the voting phase closed, and the public chose three cats and three dogs as the finalists in the running for Spokescat and Spokesdog respectively.

A judging panel, made up of representatives from sponsors WCSC Live 5 NewsPalmetto Brewing Co. and Charleston Animal Society, will pick the Grand Prize-winning entry Spokesdog and Spokescat from the three finalist dogs and three finalist cats of the online photo contest to appear on the 2022 Rescue Brew Beer labels.

The winners will be announced and the labels will be revealed in late October in time for the holiday party season!
