Betty the Bulldog Abandoned Outside in the Cold

Tuesday | December 27, 2022 | North Charleston, SC
Thursday, December 22nd, just before Christmas, someone abandoned a dog at our gate that was suffering from an injury. She was left tied to a tree in a cardboard box with a life-threatening injury.
When our surgical team found her at 7:30 am she needed immediate medical attention. If not for our team’s expertise and care she could have perished. She still has a long road to recovery and is being treated by our team. One can only imagine how much she suffered throughout that cold night alone in the dark.
It is illegal to abandon an animal and there are alternatives to leaving them injured in a box. If you know someone who is struggling to care for their animal please help them to get the resources they need. https://charlestonanimalsociety.org/…/Financial…
This case is being investigated by police and if you have any information please contact the North Charleston Police Department at 843-740-2800 or Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip at 843-554-1111.
UPDATE 12.28.22
The abandoned female dog, nicknamed “Betty” by our team, is being cared for and monitored by our surgical team. Dr. Margie Morris stated that she continues to have diarrhea and discharge but is eating well and is active. Her injury may reoccur and if it does she will need to have more extensive surgery.
Every 26 minutes we touch the life of an animal in need. Can you please help us to save them? Thanks to Hank & Laurel Greer and the McDaniel Family Foundation, donations made through the end of the year will be doubled, dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000. go to www.CharlestonAnimalSociety.org/HolidayGiving.
