9 years ago, a very special dog named Caitlyn came into Charleston Animal Society’s care after being made a victim one of the most shocking cruelty cases ever witnessed in our organization’s 150 years. Her snout had been sealed shut with electrical tape, cutting off blood flow and making it impossible for her to eat or drink.
Charleston Animal Society has received a grant from PetSmart Charities® to help prepare more pets in Charleston County for adoption. Some four million pets find themselves in U.S. shelters each year. In partnership with PetSmart Charities, Charleston Animal Society will bring adoptable pets to four PetSmart locations in support of National Adoption Week, taking place March 18 – 24, 2024.
Charleston Animal Society, the first animal protection organization in South Carolina and one of the oldest in the entire country, celebrates its 150th anniversary on March 14.
