Animal Intake Specialist

This vital role involves working directly with foster parents, owners surrendering animals, food bank customers, and those who have lost their pets. As an Animal Intake Specialist, you’ll be the heart of our intake process, ensuring the highest ethical standards and providing excellent customer service.
Schedule: Primary schedules will be Tuesday – Saturday 8 am – 6:00 pm – over as needed; No less than 40 per week
Job Type: Full Time; 10 Hour Shift, 8 Hour Shift, Overtime as Needed
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and potential adopters with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Compassionate Handling – Handle emotional or controversial situations with professionalism and compassion.
- Collect fees from customers.
- Participate and direct cleaning and feeding in the cat intake room.
- Answer phones professionally and provide accurate information to callers.
- Assist customers with completing lost animal reports and Return To Owner (RTO) paperwork with precision.
- Thoroughly explain policies to all customers, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Schedule owner surrender appointments and handle them in a professional manner.
- Enter animal intakes into Pet Point (Computer System) when our furry friends arrive.
- Maintain the cleanliness of intake areas and front lobby continuously—it’s the key to a happy and healthy environment.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
– Prior experience working with animals.
– Excellent customer service skills.
– Skill and ability in animal handling, care, and maintenance.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– High organizational skills because keeping things in order.
– Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
– Advanced data entry skills.
Additional Information:
– Physical requirements include walking, standing, and moving animals and equipment (lifting 50 pounds).
– Minimum 8-hour standing stamina.
– Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
