Voting for 2023 Rescue Brew Pet Star Search is Underway
541 dogs and cats vying to be the faces of Rescue Brew Beer!
Tuesday | August 15, 2023 | NORTH CHARLESTON – You can now vote for your favorite dog or cat in the Fourth Annual Rescue Brew Beer Spokesdog and Spokescat star search! Winners will appear on the labels of the “2023 Rescue Brew Beer” from Palmetto Brewing Company. 541 Pet owners entered their dogs or cats at CharlestonAnimalSociety.org/
EACH VOTE RAISES MONEY FOR HOMELESS ANIMALS
Rescue Brew competitors will now try to gather votes on social media, and through friends and family. Anyone can vote for their favorites. Each $1 donation to a pet’s entry counts as one vote. Money raised supports No Kill South Carolina, a statewide initiative of Charleston Animal Society, designed to end animal homelessness.
The top three vote-getters for cats and dogs will be named finalists and a panel of judges from our sponsors will decide the winner in each category.
Rescue Brew Beer 2023 will go on sale in the fall. Last year, Rescue Brew could be found in Charleston area Harris Teeters and Bottles stores and at select retailers in Columbia and Greenville.

Since 1874, the mission of Charleston Animal Society has always been the prevention of cruelty to animals. Over 15,000 animals will turn to Charleston Animal Society for caring, compassion and hope this year alone. In addition to caring for homeless animals, adopting them into new homes, and reuniting lost pets with their families, the organization responds to animals in crisis as a result of both man-made and natural disasters. About Palmetto Brewery
The original Palmetto Brewery in Charleston opened in 1888, by John Doscher. This brewery was located on the corner of Market St. and Hayne St. in historic downtown Charleston. The original Palmetto Brewery went through a brief name change, to Germania Brewing Co. (1896) in hopes of attracting customers due to the demand for German beer in the US during this time, but was changed back to Palmetto shortly after.
