Charleston Animal Society Celebrating AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day July 22nd!
Wednesday is the AAHA-Accredited hospital day. AAHA is the American Animal Hospital Association. Every year AAHA celebrates the select few animal hospitals that have taken the extra steps to achieve excellence in animal care.
Not all animal hospitals are accredited. In fact, fewer than 10% in the tri-county area and only about 12 – 15% of animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are accredited. Charleston Animal Society was the first combined animal shelter and veterinary clinic in the southeast to earn AAHA accreditation in 2015. Only nine out of more than 80 animal hospitals in our tri-county area are AAHA-accredited.
Last year, Charleston Animal Society’s Sam Greer Spay Neuter Clinic performed more than 9,600 spay-neuter surgeries.
WHAT DOES ACCREDITATION MEAN?
Accreditation means your pet is receiving care at a hospital that has passed the highest standards in veterinary care. Accredited hospitals are evaluated on approximately 900 quality standards that go above and beyond basic state regulations, ranging from patient care and pain management to staff training and advanced diagnostic services.
