Charleston Animal Society Issues Heat-Stress Alert

Charleston Animal Society is issuing a heat alert for all companion and working animals.  This week the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Lowcountry, due to temperatures climbing into the 90s. According to the University of Kentucky, heat stress will be at the DANGER or EMERGENCY level during daytime hours throughout this week.

ANIMAL HEROES: FUR THE LOVE OF RUFUS

On June 1, Rufus, a five-year-old shih tzu mix, was found running the streets of Mount Pleasant with such thick matts of fur that it was difficult for him to see or even move normally. Rufus was in clear discomfort from his condition; often pausing to chew and lick incessantly at the knots of fur that covered his small body.

ADOPTION FEES WAIVED FOR SUMMER SLAM EMERGENCY RESCUE OPERATION

In order to find homes for each animal in our care during the busiest time of the year for animal shelters statewide, we've launched the Summer Slam Emergency Operation -- offering fee-waived adoptions on all animals six-months and older. CAT FOUND WITH BROKEN JAR AROUND NECK

This poor stray cat was wandering on the streets with a broken glass jar around his neck. If not for our amazing team of lifesaving veterinarians and technicians he could have suffered and died from injury from the broken glass or starvation.

The Mars Petcare Sales Team's Out of this World Volunteer Day

Last Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2022, Charleston Animal Society was honored to have a group of nine sales team members from Mars Petcare  for their volunteer give-back day while the group was in Charleston for week-long meetings.
