Charleston Animal Society is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our team within our Education Department. The role will be responsible for planning and leading games and recreational activities for children who are attending our summer camp program. The ideal candidate should be passionate about working with children, and able to create a fun, engaging, and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and leading a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities that are fun and safe for children of different ages.
- Working collaboratively with other camp counselors and volunteers to ensure a smooth and organized camp experience.
- Ensuring that campers are supervised at all times.
- Adhering to Charleston Animal Society animal handling and safety protocols at all times.
- Providing a positive, interactive learning environment for campers at all times.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, volunteers, campers, parents, and the public at all times. Must work efficiently under pressure and be flexible in a fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications:
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle a multitude of public and staff personalities
- Animal handling experience preferred
- Camp counselor experience preferred.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills required
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills necessary, including the ability to establish priorities and deadlines
- May be required to handle, clean, and care for animals involved in program presentations and activities.
Additional Information:
- Valid driver’s license required and must have an excellent driving record
- Must be a self-guided individual requiring minimal supervision
- Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, walking, standing, and moving of equipment and animals (ability to lift 50 pounds)
- Successful completion of a background and drug screen will be required.
**Weekly Schedule will be Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm, with some Friday mornings**
**Position will run from the beginning of June through the 3rd week of August**

Salary: $13.00 per hour
