Lost Pet Awareness Day
1 in 3 pets will go missing in their lifetime and almost 10 million pets go missing every year. It can happen to anyone. Your pet can dig under a fence, slip out of their collar or get spooked by a storm, but then what?
Last year, even during the pandemic, we reunited 664 lost animals with their families through 3,974 hours of lost and found case work. Today is Lost Pet Awareness Day and at Charleston Animal Society, we are striving to increase the number of lost pets reunited with their loving families.
We hope that you never have to go searching for a missing pet, but if you do, it’s best to be prepared. We have a few simple steps you can take now to make sure you are reunited with your pet if one day they adventure a little too far.
Make sure your pet has…
- A FREE profile on Petco Love Lost: it only takes a few minutes to upload information and a picture for your pet and their AI technology can help locate your dog in its database.
- A Microchip: microchips can be scanned by most veterinary offices and shelters. Keep your pet’s microchip updated with your current address and contact information.
- A collar or harness and ID tag: make sure your phone number is legible on the ID tag.
Keep your pet safe with 15% OFF all leashes, collars, harnesses and training products on our Online Pet Supply Store with promo code ‘HOME15’. All proceeds save animals at Charleston Animal Society.
