SUPPORT OUR PETS FOR LIFE PROGRAM

Help us Keep Families Together

YOUR GIFT DOUBLES

Up to $25,000!

A missed paycheck, or unplanned veterinary bill can mean the difference between a beloved pet remaining in the home or giving that pet up to a shelter. Pets for Life is a Charleston Animal Society outreach program that provides food, veterinary care and support services for families in many of our urban and rural communities. Now through Saturday, an anonymous donor is DOUBLING all gifts to Pets for Life up to $25,000. Please Give and help us keep families together.

PETS FOR LIFE

Pets for Life is a community outreach program that focuses on supporting families and their pets in underserved parts of our community. Launched in 2014, the program focuses on North Charleston but it has since grown to include rural parts of our community including Hollywood, Ravenel, and Edisto Island. This program seeks to address and overcome the barriers families face in accessing the basic services and resources to care for the pets they love. Charleston Animal Society is committed to meeting the community where they are instead of waiting for situations to reach the point where animals have to enter the shelter. This “boots on the ground” outreach initiatives has our outreach staff going door-to-door in focus areas building individual relationships with families and their pets. Pets for Life provides free spay or neuter services with transportation, vaccinations, and other pet resources to help support families so they can keep their pets for life! This program is made possible with support from the Humane Society of the United States.

RURAL OUTREACH

Helping Hands for Rural Paws is funded through a grant from the WaterShed Animal Fund that encourages community partners like Charleston Animal Society to create lasting, transformative change. Since its launch in 2018, Helping Hands for Rural Paws has driven the Simon Greer Mobile Spay Neuter Clinic thousands of miles helping as it repeatedly visits rural communities across Charleston County. Focus communities include Hollywood, Ravenel, Awendaw, McClellanville, Edisto Island, Wadmalaw Island and Johns Island. Helping Hands for Rural Paws provides families with access to free wellness exams, vaccinations, and spay or neuter services through community events held directly in the community. By eliminating barriers such as transportation and cost we are making veterinary services accessible in areas where there was no access before. Thousands of pets and families have benefited from this amazing program.

FENCE BUILDS

Fence Builds are a popular part of Charleston Animal Society’s Pets for Life program. Our fence build program helps carefully selected families whose animals would benefit from a fenced-in backyard. Many times, people who love their animals cannot afford a fence and the animal ends up chained to a porch or garage. Also, one of the number one reasons that animals wind up in shelters involves landlord issues involving pets. A fenced-in yard will often times convince a landlord to allow the pet stay with their loving family. Area companies and organizations routinely sponsor and volunteer their time for a fence build that typically take place on Saturdays. To sponsor a build or volunteer, email  Aldwin Roman at aroman@charlestonanimalsociety.org
