Keeping Families Together – Even in a Crisis
Pets for Life is a community outreach effort that connects underserved neighborhoods with animal care resources, like low-cost veterinary care, free spay/neuter services, vaccinations and food. This program is guided by the principle that financial means do not indicate how much a pet is loved. We need your support to continue providing this lifesaving care that keeps families with their beloved companion animals.
When the program launched in North Charleston in 2014, outreach staff found that only 21% of pets were spayed or neutered in the City of North Charleston’s most underserved neighborhoods. By the end of 2019, 87% of all unaltered animals met through Pets for Life are now spayed or neutered.
Throughout the pandemic our Pets for Life teams never wavered. In 2020 we helped 1,620 people care for their pets. Every week they have been in the community helping families facing unprecedented challenges and supplying resources wherever needed:
- 638 months’ supply of pet food
- 36 veterinary consults/treatments
- 18 veterinary financial assistance packages
- 1,170 pet owner consultations
- 350 owned-pet treatments
YOU made it possible for us to reach out to the community and keep families together when challenges from the pandemic were threatening to pull them apart. This crisis isn’t over for many of them. Give today and your donation will DOUBLE up to $10,000 thanks to the generosity of the Shelly Leeke Law Firm.
