$5,000 REWARD OFFERED IN SHOOTING OF TWO PET PIGS
Charleston Animal Society offering a $5,000 reward to help catch those responsible.
NORTH CHARLESTON | Wednesday | April 12, 2023 – Two miniature pet pigs were brutally shot at their home on Wadmalaw Island April 3rd, leaving one of the pet pigs dead. Alfie and Petunia were indoor-outdoor pigs who spent time cuddling on their owner’s couch with her.
According to the pigs’ owner, Alfie died after being shot in the head. Petunia is recovering from her wounds to the leg. The shootings are being investigated by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
“This violence against innocent animals is likely an indicator of ongoing violence against humans. It must be stopped as our community continues to suffer an escalation in violent crimes. Last year, South Carolina was the 8th most dangerous state in the nation, with both North Charleston and Charleston being in the top 3 most dangerous cities in the state,” said Charleston Animal Society President and CEO Joe Elmore, CAWA, CFRE.
“For nearly 150 years, the Animal Society has been dedicated to preventing cruelty to both humans and animals. We will continue to offer rewards for these heinous acts of cruelty perpetrated by the most despicable of humans hiding among us.”
Charleston Animal Society is offering a $5,000 Reward for information that leads to the arrest and felony conviction of those involved.
