German Shepherds Rescued

On January 5, 2019, Charleston Animal Society was called in by The Humane Society of the United States to assist in a large-scale cruelty operation involving 165 German Shepherds in rural eastern Georgia.

Reports indicate the dogs were living in deplorable and unsanitary conditions. Charleston Animal Society was able to transport 10 of the animals here to Charleston and will continue medical care and thorough medical and behavior assessments on the dogs. Once the dogs have been examined, microchipped, and spayed or neutered they will be available for adoption.The shepherds are being given multiple baths and will soon start socializing together in playgroups.

UPDATE 1/8/19: Some of the German Shepherds will be available for fostering and/or adoption by this weekend. There has been a lot of interest in these guys and gals, so please come by in-person to get on a list if you are interested.

UPDATE 1/9/19: Several of the German Shepherds are scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries today.

UPDATE 1/14/19:We are very happy to report that nine of the 10 German Shepherds have been adopted! Thanks to everyone who came to foster, adopt and donate. The one German Shepherd who remains with us needs additional attention and evaluation, as she is having a difficult time adjusting to her new surroundings.
