23 DOGS SEIZED BY SHERIFF’S OFFICE BEING TREATED AT CHARLESTON ANIMAL SOCIETY

One dog found with paralyzed back legs is now receiving treatment.

(NORTH CHARLESTON) – 23 dogs are currently receiving treatment at Charleston Animal Society after a seizure July 11 in Awendaw by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. The case remains under investigation.

“Our first priority is to have these dogs examined by our medical team to see what condition each animal is in and then proceed to treatment,” said Charleston Animal Society Chief Veterinary Officer Lucy Fuller.

The dogs include one Walker Coonhound and 22 Beagles. “One of the dog’s back legs appeared to be paralyzed and the dog was seen dragging their legs through the mud,” said Charleston Animal Society Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Aldwin Roman. “When animals find themselves in this kind of situation, they have nowhere else to turn, but Charleston Animal Society.”

The dogs will all be evaluated and potentially placed into foster homes. However, the financial cost will be enormous. Charleston Animal Society has been saving animals like these for 150 years, you can help by giving to Charleston Animal Society’s medical fund at CharlestonAnimalSociety.org/Tobys-Fund.
