Adopt a Cat
New Adoption Procedure and Hours
Adoption Hours:
12:00pm – 5:00pm (Weekdays)
10:00am – 5:00pm (Weekends)
Charleston Animal Society is open for adoptions. However, we have adjusted our hours and operations in a way to help our team and community to remain safe and healthy by minimizing people-to-people contact risking exposure to Covid-19. We will be limiting the number of people allowed in the shelter at any given time, to help with social distancing. We appreciate your patience when you arrive to look at our animals and adopt.
For the safety of you and our staff, everyone entering the shelter will be required to wear a face mask. Also, as an additional precaution, only children over the age of 13 are allowed into the shelter.
Looking for a new family member? Our animals for adoption are all listed in real-time on our website! If you don’t see an animal you are interested in, please bookmark the adopt a dog/cat page and check it often. (It changes daily and by the hour as pets are cleared for adoption). Animals that are listed at this moment in time are what we have available for adoption. Once an animal is adopted they are automatically taken off of the website (with the exception of animals located at offsite locations).
We Have the Purrfect Cat for You!
Cats at Charleston Animal Society come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes and personalities. All of our animals come micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for their behavior and health. Come visit us at 2455 Remount Road in North Charleston! Can you make room for one more?
If you can’t adopt, ask about our new initiative, “Operation Whiskers!” This is where you will foster one of our cats and find a friend or neighbor to adopt. We provide everything you need to succeed. Just ask one of our adoption specialists about “Operation Whiskers” on your next visit. Come visit us at 2455 Remount Road today. Adopt and find your soul pet! You can also see many of our cats available for adoption at Pounce Cat Cafe in downtown Charleston plus area Petco and Pet Smart stores.
PLEASE NOTE: Cat adoption specials only apply to adoptions at the shelter and do not extend to off-site adoption locations.
Will You Sponsor an Adoption?
Whether you are a dog person or a cat person, this your opportunity to sponsor an adoption! Throughout the year, we offer “fee-waived” adoptions to encourage people to adopt. They are hugely successful and most of the adopters are people who already have one pet and want a second. Your adoption sponsorship will cover the adoption fees for one animal, dramatically increasing their chance for a new, happy life. And remember, when the dogs and cats lay down at night with their new families, they will have you to thank for their warm, cozy home.
Provide a Cat a Kuranda Bed!
Give our cats and dogs a lift with the orthopedic support and off-the-floor comfort of our patented chew-proof Kuranda beds. These beds offer a wonderful source of comfort and security for our animals as they wait at the shelter for their permanent new homes.
We have a Charleston Animal Society Kuranda page already set-up and ready to go. Just click here and when you make a donation purchase, the bed is sent automatically to Charleston Animal Society. Your gift is also tax-deductible!
