October 6, 2022 | Charleston, SC –– The Applause for Paws Havana Nights Gala benefiting Charleston Animal Society will take place at the Charleston Gaillard Center on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Tickets are available online and the online silent auction is open now at

“This is the Animal Society’s most prestigious black-tie event of the year. Our fundraising goal to support our lifesaving mission is $550,000,” said Gala Chairperson Gerri Greenwood.   “Still in the throes of a global pandemic, a war raging in Europe, and now recovering from Hurricane Ian, raising funds for local non-profit organizations is more challenging than it ever has been.”

“This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the animals and there is a way for everyone to be a part of the event,” said Joe Elmore, CAWA, CFRE, Charleston Animal Society President and CEO.  “If you can’t join us in person, you can participate from home by being a part of our online silent auction.”

The Havana Nights Gala is presented by Hank & Laurel Greer and Fetch Pet Insurance.  Major sponsors include Blackbaud, Charleston Carriage Horse Advocates, Charleston Magazine and Minero Mexican Grill & Cantina.

The Havana Nights online silent auction is not to be missed! This year, there is a little something for everyone, with must-have fashion packages, exclusive trips, dining experiences, and even the chance to enter a raffle for a brand-new, fully optimized 2022 Club Car Onward L4.

Carolyn Murray, News 2 Co-Anchor and Charleston Animal Society Board Member, will emcee the gala along with the incredible Doug Warner at the helm of the live auction. The live auction in the gala ballroom includes once-in-a-lifetime experiences at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah and spending a day with “Project Street Vet” celebrity veterinarian, Dr. Kwane Stewart, on the streets of Los Angeles.  New Orleans Jazz Fest 2023, jewelry from Roberto Coin and fabulous Isle of Palms over-the-top beach vacations will be featured.
